Impostor Syndrome, though not a medical condition like implied, is a serious issue that many people experience. It is when a competent individual feels unworthy of performing the task. For example, a doctor feels they do not deserve their title even though they earned it in medical school.
I wanted to do the visuals and typography for this project by hand. Most of the elements came from my own doing; in a way, I was fighting off my impostor syndrome with this infographic. I wanted to ensure I flexed my ability to create cohesive and exciting visuals and unique typography while sharing information on a subject I relate to.
Throughout the infographic, the viewer sees a figure in various situations of impostor syndrome; this includes not feeling like oneself, a mix of emotions, and finally (and hopefully) evolution away from impostor syndrome. The figure is drawn in a geometric and clean-cut style, lending itself to familiar infographic energy while the typography feels scrappy and imperfect. The dichotomy of imagery and typography represents the vast difference between a person being capable and experiencing self-doubt simultaneously.
